Hardening existing structures with ABC.
Not every ballistic protection need starts with a blank site. Existing buildings sometimes need to be hardened against ballistic threats without a full teardown-and-rebuild — a different problem than designing a new facility from scratch.
Retrofitting, not just building new
Facilities protection work often means adapting ABC to an existing structure's actual configuration, rather than assuming a clean-slate build. Certain configurations require a different approach than a new, purpose-built facility would.
Why this is a distinct problem
An existing building has fixed dimensions, existing openings, and structural constraints a new build doesn't. Hardening it means working within those constraints, not replacing them.
Same material, different application
The underlying ballistic concrete system is the same one used across Amidon's purpose-built facilities — the difference is in how it's configured and applied to a structure that already exists.
