AIR ASSAULT · SLING LOAD · EXTERNAL-LOAD TRAINING
Purpose-built reinforced-concrete training loads engineered to help aircrews and ground teams train against realistic external loads — without putting operational equipment at unnecessary risk.
TRAINING VALUE, NOT DEAD WEIGHT
A Sling Block has one job: give the training unit a known, repeatable external load that can be rigged, inspected, identified, lifted and used again. Amidon builds the identification, lifting provisions, field visibility and proof-load verification into the block from the beginning.
Reinforced concrete and rebar built for repeated field use.
Embedded steel pipes and lift eyes are part of the block design.
Cast-in markings, color coding, brass ID plate and reflectors.
Each block is individually tested before entering the training inventory.
STANDARD CONFIGURATIONS
From light cargo simulation to heavy-lift training, the standard line gives units known weights that map to common training scenarios and equipment classes.

STANDARD TRAINING LOAD
General cargo and light equipment

STANDARD TRAINING LOAD
Light tactical vehicles, trailers and CROP

STANDARD TRAINING LOAD
M1167, M1152A1 and mobility trailers

STANDARD TRAINING LOAD
M777A1, M1097 and high-mobility trailers

STANDARD TRAINING LOAD
Heavy-equipment and advanced vehicle-load training

STANDARD TRAINING LOAD
Large-equipment and heavy-lift training
Planning note: Proof-test values verify the block and its embedded lifting provisions at the listed test load. They do not supersede aircraft, cargo hook, sling-set, rigging, inspection or mission-planning limits.
BUILT TO BE INSPECTED
Field equipment is easier to manage when the critical information is on the asset — not in somebody's memory. Sling Blocks combine permanent markings with multiple visual identification methods.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
Each Amidon Sling Block is individually proof-load tested in accordance with MIL-STD-913 to verify structural integrity and lifting-provision performance.
| Block weight (lb) | Load factor | Test load (lb) |
|---|---|---|
| 1,500 | 3.5 | 5,250 |
| 6,000 | 3.2 | 19,200 |
| 8,500 | 3.2 | 27,200 |
| 12,000 | 3.2 | 38,400 |
| 18,000 | 3.086 | 55,548 |
| 22,000 | 2.934 | 64,548 |
BUILT FOR REPEAT USE
These blocks are designed as durable, reusable training assets: load them, transport them, stage them, rig them, inspect them and put them back into service for the next evolution.

FREQUENT QUESTIONS
1,500, 6,000, 8,500, 12,000, 18,000 and 22,000 lb.
Yes. Each block is individually proof-load tested in accordance with MIL-STD-913 to verify structural integrity and lifting-provision performance.
Each block combines cast-in weight markings, integral color coding, a brass identification plate and recessed reflectors.
Yes. The design uses embedded lifting provisions with steel pipes and lift eyes.
Required weights, quantities, delivery location, required-by date and any solicitation or technical-reference documents that govern the purchase.
Yes. The standard weight family makes it straightforward to add or replace training loads as requirements evolve.
