What Is Amidon Ballistic Concrete (ABC)?

Every structure Amidon builds — shoot houses, ranges, breaching walls, subterranean complexes — starts with the same material: Amidon Ballistic Concrete, or ABC. It’s the patented core of the company, and the reason the rest of the product line exists at all.

Every structure on this range — and every Amidon product — starts with the same patented material.

What Makes It Different

Standard concrete isn’t engineered to absorb repeated live-fire impact. ABC is a purpose-built formulation designed to contain rounds, resist spalling, and hold up under sustained, repeated engagement — the kind of use a normal training structure was never meant to survive. See the material science behind the patent for how that formulation works.

Modular by Design

ABC isn’t just a material spec, it’s a building system. Precast panels can be assembled on site with a crane in a fraction of the time cast-in-place construction takes, and the modularity extends to multi-story structures, reconfigurable layouts, and the full range of Amidon’s product line — shoot houses, subterranean complexes, breaching walls, and the smaller-format Mini Blocks and Coping Blocks used to finish out window and roofline details.

Proven, Not Just Claimed

ABC has been evaluated at Aberdeen Proving Ground against SACON (Shock Absorbing Concrete), the Army Corps of Engineers’ own standard, with independent testing from GHD and BlueLine Consulting backing it up. ABC is engineered to capture rounds rather than deflect them, and its ballistic performance is controlled by density rather than compressive strength.
